Cover FX The Perfect Light Highlighting Powder – Swatches, Review and Photos On A Woman of Color

On each of these swatches, I did use the Cover FX Illuminating Primer which is a silicone-free primer that gives your skin an instant luminous glow packed with powerful skincare ingredients to illuminate the skin for a brighter, more radiant appearance. Then as you can see in the pictures and the video below, I followed it up with the Custom Enhancer Drops to create a buildable highlight for an intense strobe effect or subtle blended out glow and then added some depth to it by layering the Perfect Light Highlighting Powders on top.

Intertwine Collection: Intertwine Collection was created by the thought of the birthing process of twin fetus interlocking to become to separate eggs, which the basis behind our company name, Intertwine. Intertwine is defined as interlocking or twine together.

Intertwine Collection: We started off reconstructing women vintage clothing. Then we started styling for a Disney show called ‘Ant Farm’. We later decided to venture off and start Intertwine Collection.”

One Glitter Shoe That Will Get You Through All of Your Holiday Parties

There is just something about the holidays that scream glitter to me. I always find someway to incorporate it into my holidays looks - whether it be on my lips, eyes, clothes or my feet - I must always sparkle during the holidays. However, if you're more on the conservative side and can't wear glitter on your eyes/lips or you're just looking for a fun shoe to wear this holiday season, take a look at this pump from Shoedazzle.

Michael Kors Collection Spring 2017 Ready-to-Wear Collection Re-See Recap

Only Michael Kors could make me want to go home, walk to my closet, grab everything in it and immediately start packing it away to start fresh. Even as I'm typing this, I'm side eyeing my closet and fighting the urge clear it out to make room for nautical and floral explosion that is the Michael Kors Collection Spring 2017 Ready-to-Wear Collection. I attended the Re-See event on Wednesday at his studios on 42nd street to get a closer look at the collection.

You can see all the looks from their NYFW runway show here. And in keeping with our follow-me-to-fashion-week, I decided to dip into the fragrance collection to showcase (and giveaway) Glam Jasmine - an eau de parfum that focuses on a bouquet explosion of its namesake flower; Egyptian jasmine, jasmine sambac and jasmine petals. It's a warm and sexy fragrance with sparkling citrus notes and woody cedar mixed with black currant, jasmine, sandalwood,white flowers and cassis.

Misha Collection SS17 Runway Show NYFW Recap

There's a sense of delight when you give into opulence and the Misha Collection SS17 Runway Show was a testament to that. The luxury Australian fashion label, led by Creative Director and designer Michelle Aznavorian, made its New York Fashion Week debut with its opening and closing walk done by the superstar Jourdan Dunn.

The Misha Collection SS17 oozes opulence, extravagant glamour, luxury and mystery. The collection was inspired by fashion icons of Studio 54 gone by evoking feelings of elegance and supplication. With references to classic vintage shapes from the seventies and eighties, the seductive mood is enhanced by breathtaking new textures, custom lace, ostrich feather, silk Devoré and pony leather are intertwined with a monochromatic colour palette splashed with leopard print and daring red.

I loved how the designer was able to incorporate hints of elegance and sophistication into the spirit of Studio 54. Now for the makeup - one of our favorite beauty brands - Stila Cosmetics was responsible for creating the luxe and lust beauty look for the runway. I love a good strap up sandal for summer so I'm always on the look out for unique ones. I spotted the Kamaria pump on Shoedazzle the other day and I was intrigued by her and the pattern on it! IMG_8458

Shoedazzle Evi by Madison Pump - A Review and Shoe Comfort Tips

That's literally how I felt when I tried on the Evi by Madison pump. If you guys remember, earlier in the month, I did a introductory post on Evi just to introduce it to you and make you aware of it's launch before it sold out. It's basically a redesign and relaunch of the Lulah pump from 3 years ago.

Oh high heels, how I've missed you! I wore these for about 8 hours over two days (once on the weekend and then during this photoshoot) and they are insanely comfortable. I always get so many questions asking how can I possible wear a 6 inch heel for so long without cringing and my number one tip to you is that it takes a lot of practice. Honestly, I used to wear sneakers every day of the week until I got used to wearing high heels and the only way that I was able to master them was to constantly wear them around the house and practice. And, as any master knows, there are always little things that you can do to make anything easier. For example, if I'm in the market for high high heels, I always look for a pair that has a platform on it so that it can balance out the height.

Another tip that I can tell you is to make sure that you have a steady supply of Foot Petals on hand. Foot Petals is a brand that creates the most comfortable shoe cushions for high heels and flat shoes. I literally have boxes of their tip toes that I slide into the ball of my shoes before putting them on. These make my feet feel like I'm wearing nothing at all, especially when I walk so it gives me the ability to rock them all day long. There are so many different inserts that you can try depending on what your preference is: tip toes, softspots, technogel, you just have to figure out what kind of comfort you're looking for.

Besides looking for comfort, when I wear high heels, I always pair the bottom of my shoes with these Sole Stopperz to add some pre-made traction to them. You won't catch me out to dinner slippin' and slidin' in 6 inch heels on your shiny waxed floor. No sir!

All you have to do is take the petal-shaped stick-on, pull off the adhesive backing and press it firmly onto the bottom of your shoes. Make sure that you step down on it firmly a few times to secure it in place.

Shoedazzle Lulah Dupe - Introducing The New Evi Pump From Madison

It's Monday morning so I need to give you guys a dose of the "Monday Blues" but I promise you that you will love this! For years, I've been working with Shoedazzle and during that time, I don't think there has been a pair of shoes that have really connected to the fans as much as Lulah has.

   I was lucky enough to snag a pair in my size very early on in my career with them. The thing that you have to keep in mind with Shoedazzle is that because it is a boutique styled website, once a style is sold out, it most likely is never coming back in stock. As you can imagine, the Lulah's flew off of the shelves and left many shoe lover's broken-hearted. Say Hello to A Little Beauty - Becca Cosmetics Champagne Glow Palette

She's finally here! I have been stalking the Sephora website like a maniac waiting for the Becca Cosmetics Champagne Glow Palette to launch. I know they gave us a specific day and time (Tuesday, October 27 at 12:00pm EST) but you and I both know how friendly I've gotten with the refresh button - umm a new F5 button please. This is a limited edition palette with 3 shimmering Skin Perfector pressed shades (0.084 oz each) in Pearl, Blushed Copper, and Champagne Pop x Jaclyn Hill. It's sold exclusively at Sephora and costs $34.00.

Pearl is a new beautiful luminizer in pale linen white. At first, I was a little weary of how this shade would perform on women of color but I saw a few Youtubers swatch the product and they sealed the deal for me. Champagne Pop which I've tried in the full size version is a soft white gold with pinky peach undertones and Blushed Copper is a beautiful warm copper luminizer that is infused with rose gold tones.

Essence Inaugural Beauty Box Review: Soulful. Colorful. Beautiful.

First, can I tell you guys how much I missed you?! I'm so happy to be writing for my blog again! It's been such a crazy transition and adjustment over the past few months but you know that I'd never leave you for too long. Now back to business - you know everyone has a beauty box now right? I think it's great because it's the best way to try out new products and introduce new brands to the consumer. However, as a woman of color, a lot of the products that are curated for these beauty boxes aren't really done with us in mind - and I mean that with no shade at all. It's just having a certain skin tone; having different undertones; having a different "type" of hair, I need products that are really curated to women of color.

So I was very excited to hear about the news that Essence was coming out with an Essence Beauty Box that was specifically curated by a team of African-American women with African-American women in mind. These are editors who have years of experience in the fashion and hair industry so I immediately knew that I needed to jump on this.

1. The Eden BodyWorks Coconut Shea Leave-In conditioner which is described as a daily conditioning treatment to improve manageability. It's a sulfate free formula that is supposed to be safe for color-treated, chemically treated, curly or straight hair. - Update - This is holy grail out of this entire box. 2. The Curls Crème Brule Whipped Curl Cream is a cream styler that will define, de-frizz, and moisturize your tresses, leaving soft curls without hold. - Update - I still love saying this name. Crème Brule. So sexy :-) Anyway, this is my second favorite product. I've been using this to tame my frizzy hair. I'll give you a better review once I keep my hair in a wash and go style.

The L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream which is a cream that is enhanced with 20% shea butter which is specifically designed to penetrate quickly in order to protect, nourish and moisturize your hands. - Update - Ok, this stuff is amazing and is the perfect travel size lotion. I love that I'm able to keep it in my coat pocket to keep my hands moisturized while I'm out. remember ladies, your true age will always show on your hands and your neck so it's best to keep them moisturized!

4. The Calvin Klein Eternity Now fragrance which is a bright addictive floral fragrance that features succulent fruits and radiant flowers that is enveloped in a soft cashmere veil. - Update - Full size bottle is already on my holiday wishlist! Do I need to say more?

Lastly, the Tarte Brow Architect which is an all-in-one brush, pencil and underscoring concealer With this  tool, you can shape, line and define your brows with one simple tool. - Update - This is a really fun product that's great to travel with. Right now I'll be honest, I'm letting my eyebrows grow in because one looks like an evil twin. #NotCute

Little Miss Ally's Farewell to Winter!

Even though the temperature is being extra sensitive this week in New York, I think it's officially time to bid winter adieu.

Before I officially chuck the deuces up to winter, I asked my oldest niece, Little Miss Ally, how she wanted to say goodbye.

"I want to rock out and wear my gold FabKids sequin fuzzy boots!"

FabKids - Glitter Fuzzies Boots

"It's always best to start teaching them young!"

In this case, I had to put that motto to work with my oldest niece and show her the true meaning of shoe love. She's only 4 and a half years old but I can already see stilettos and high heels in her future.

Spring...oh how I wish you were here now and would never ever leave again. Unfortunately, I'm a native New Yorker so I'll be singing this same tune once winter leaves and circles back again at the end of 2015.

These girls Air Jordan 4 Retro "Fuchsia" sneakers are set to launch this Saturday, January 17th on select websites but only in size 3.5Y - 9.5Y.

Ever since 2011 and Maya Moore's deal with Nike's Jordan Brand, I've been looking forward to some fashionable Jordan's that I could add to my street style wardrobe but so far nothing has hit the mark for me.
