The End of an Era...

The end of summer is always bitter sweet for me. I'm going to miss rocking my summer maxi dresses and cute sparkly sandals but I'm ready to rock some boots! This past weekend in NY it wasn't too hot but it definitely wasn't fall weather, so I decided to rock a cute and casual look that will easily transition me into fall.

 

For the last picture I actually changed my lip color. I lined my lips with MAC Nightmoth lipliner, then used MAC sweet succulence.

Fall is Here!

When I took these pictures it was the perfect fall day in New York! It was in the mid 70's, the sun was shining and the breeze was amazing. Now it's a 89 degrees and I'm hiding out in my air conditioner. Even though it seems like summer is holding on for dear life, we all know that Fall is fast approaching so that means it's time to switch those wardrobes and start piling on the layers!

I'm always on the lookout for great shopping deals, so I had to jump at the opportunity when Rue La La sent me a $30 shopping spree credit to check out their refreshed Rue living page. Rue La La is a revolutionized online shopping platform that houses unique boutiques for the life of stylish decor and fashion. It is one of my favorite online shopping boutiques because you can find some amazing prices on high-end, luxury items for your home, footwear, accessories, local services and much more.

Usually, I tend to blow my monthly shopping budget whenever I browse online, however, this time I was determined to wait to use the $30 credit for something more practical. That's when they decided to launch their For Accessory Addicts - bags, scarves & more boutique! Um, hello...accessory addict right here!

This boutique is broken down into 3 categories -  Handbags/Belts, scarves & more/Wallet, wristlets & more! What makes this boutique even better is that they have it broken down into steals under $25, $50 and $100, so it's a great way to pinpoint your price range and shop shop shop! Seeing as I only wanted to use my credit I went right for the Steals under $25.

80's Baby!

So if you haven't heard already this month is my birthday....yay for 27! So I'm doing a huge birthday celebration giving away prizes to one (or more) of you everyday for the rest of the month. Check out the information on my 27 Days - A Birthday Celebration Page.

When I think of being an 80's baby, I think of cartoons shows like Darkwing Duck, Talespin and Ducktales. Ah the memories! But when it comes to fashion, I can only go by what I've seen in some of my mom's pictures...the huge hair and big earrings. So I was inspired by that for this outfit.

Plus, I picked up a new pair of cowboys boots and had to show off the sparkle. Yes, items with a lot of bling are "my precious"!

Haha, I never thought there would be a day I would wear boots with shorts but hey never say never.

Style Spotlight: Floppy Hats

This week I decided to put the spotlight on one of my favorite summer accessories: floppy hats! Floppy hats are the perfect summer fashion staple. They're stylish, affordable, and functional. I love popping on a trendy colorful hat before running out of the door. It keeps me cool while I'm running around outside in the summer heat and if the humidity is unbearable, it is the perfect accessory to hide my frizzy hair.

By now I hope you know that I like to wear things with a bit more flare to them.

Black, White and Red All Over

Peplums: You've seen them on the red carpet, out shopping, on the runway and now from my closet! We're definitely in the year of the peplums and I'm here to tell you that it's not impossible for the average girl to pull it off. I know I thought the same thing...who really wants to wear extra fabric around their hips? But if you find the right peplum (length, shape, style) and pair it correctly, it can become one of the biggest staple pieces in your closet.

Style Spotlight: Sarah Jessica Parker

I absolutely adore seeing Sarah Jessica Parker out and about these days. It's great to see her sense of style and how much it reminds me of the infamous Carrie Bradshaw. She always seems to bring a bit of edge to her fashion without being too over the top. Here's a few of her latest looks*:

Not that recent but I love this dress! She wore this to a premiere of Sex & the City so it seems totally fitting that she stepped out in style. The print, the movement in the material, the accessories...it's all a great homage to the iconic style of Carrie Bradshaw.

Here's a few examples of other Red Carpet looks*:

Sometimes simple and classic just works. SJP pulls off these 4 red carpet looks with just a hint of Carrie Bradshaw's flare. The way she accessorizes each dress with one statement/accent piece is what brings these looks together. Very easy glamour.

The actress struts her stuff in this mix and match separates looks. There's not many times that we see the star in a casual, playful outfit but when we do she sure makes it her own!
