Mia Limited Edition Vixen Platform Pumps

Every time I look at the Mia Limited Edition Vixen Platform Pumps, I can't help but smile when I think about the frenzy that surrounds "limited edition" collections. Whether you're a collector of baseball cards, comic books, make-up or shoes, I'm sure you have something in your possession that's "BNIB" and stored away never to be open.

Since I started blogging three years ago, I've discovered the hoarder in me that gives the side eye to anyone in my family who dares to go near my special fridge that is solely used for storing my MAC lipsticks. Yes, a refrigerator for lipsticks...not for food...for lipsticks. Get it together. I had to pull all-nighters just to order the entire Rihanna collection for retail, so...yeah.

Lost Your Inspiration?

Lately, I've been feeling a bit torn on which direction I should take when it comes to my career in publishing and media. Should I focus more on the writing and editing aspect of the industry or should I channel my efforts into the creative side of styling and photography?

"Life's full of tough choices, ain't it?" - Yes, I mock myself in Disney character voices!

Anyway, until I figure my next move out, I'm doing what any working, fashion conscious, soon-to-be 28 year old would do....spend money! :-) At least this time it's money that is being well spent on research.

Nevermind for Paperfox - Shoedazzle Denim

Prepare to turn heads ladies!

On August 13th, Shoedazzle announced the exclusive launch of the premium denim collection Nevermind for Paper Fox. The new line is a premium denim collection that was designed exclusively in Los Angeles and features authentic vintage washes and sleek fashion-forward silhouettes. All of that sounds like great wording for a press release so I'm here to give you the story from what I know about the collection first hand.

The collection will release new styles every month which will keep it in line with Shoedazzle monthly shoe club releases. So far, the prices have ranged from $69.95-$79.95 (VIP)/$110.95-$129.95 (Reg) which honestly is a steal given the detailing and materials used on the denim in this line. And trust me, I've gone so far as to spend $169 on a pair of patch work leather denim from Guess so...yeah...I know...I've compared.

For my first pair, I chose the Elissa. I'm sure you don't need me to explain why (statement piece, helloooo).

I had absolutely no idea how I was styling these jeans and I honestly still don't but they are absolutely beautiful. You can very clearly see the craftsmanship and details put into this one style.

For my first time wearing them, I paired it with a simple white button down that had a lace up back feature, a cocktail ring and a pair of my black Steve Madden heels. I really tried to keep everything else simple so that I wouldn't take away from the beauty of the jeans.

Are they worth the $79.95 VIP member price tag? Absolutely!

However, before you check out I would definitely recommend getting yourself measured beforehand. These do run true to size but they didn't have a lot of stretch in them so they will definitely hug all of your curves. If you're in between sizes, I would probably recommend going up one size but even with that I'm a bit hesitant. I picked out my normal size and I had a little bit of trouble getting them on the first time. When I say trouble, I don't mean like that girl trying to get on her jeans in the youtube video that's going around :). What I mean is I had to do a little shimmy and shake to get them on over my thighs and when I finally did, I had to do a little "dip it low" to get them over my humps and situated on my waist the way I wanted. <---I did tell you I would be completely honest in my reviews.

Shoedazzle & Yogurtland

I don’t know why but I’ve always been a last minute person and it’s beginning to drive me crazy. For example, I’ve seen Shoedazzle and Yogurtland post about their contest probably 5 times a day on every single social media channel that I follow them on but yet, I still waited for the last minute to decide to go to Yogurtland to take pictures. Now cue the dramatics…

Ever since I started working in NYC, I have been trying to get used to travelling without my own car and on public transportation. I swear it is seriously the worst having to figure out if I need to take the red line to the orange and then to the yellow and heavens forbids one of those lines are delayed or out of service for a few hours...(-_-) I can't...

Luckily, when I searched for a Yogurtland location, I saw there was one walking distance away from Penn Station.

I walked into Yogurtland and decided to try the Red Velvet Cupcake Batter and French Vanilla mixed with a Cookie and Chocolate Yogurt for my photoshoot. Yum!

Once I added all of my toppers, I ran off to catch the train. It probably wasn't the brightest idea to get frozen yogurt right before a 45 minute train ride but it was probably one of the funniest moments that I've had on the LIRR in a long time. I had a ton of bags with me, my two yogurts and had my ipod blasting #Selfie by The Chainsmokers. Now just imagine me on the train ride home, head thumping to #Selfie.

"Can you guys help me pick a filter? I don't know if I should go with XX Pro or Valencia I wanna look tan What should my caption be? I want it to be clever How about "Livin' with my bitches, hash tag LIVE" I only got 10 likes in the last 5 minutes Do you think I should take it down? Let me take another selfie"

All the while I'm on the train singing and taking my Yogurtland Selfie's!

Ah, the things that I do for good content. Anyway, I finally made it back home and changed to take the pictures for the contest!

Hi loves! I hope you're all having a fantastic day. I've been running around like crazy trying to get a handle on things and catch up on all of my work. I've been posting a lot on my Instagram page so if you aren't following me there make sure you do now @Candycoatedclosets. I'm going to have a few surprises coming up in the next few weeks. Now onto this outfit...

For the past five months or so, I've been deep into the pencil skirt trend. I'm not sure if it's because it's too hot to wear pants or if I'm just too fat to fit into my jeans anymore but I have an arsenal of tight pencil skirts to wear everywhere now. So I really wanted to put together a look surrounding that that could easily transition from day to night.

Now for my favorite part...this entire look cost me less than $100 (accessories not included). I caught the skirt on sale from Kohl's for only $9.80. How incredible is that?!

Like I said, this is an amazing and easy look that you can wear to work and then out for happy hour - but of course you know for happy hour I'm expecting you to change into higher heels. ;-)

Red, White, & Chic - Fashion & Style

Now that I'm winding down from the weekend, I seriously think every holiday should fall on a Friday! It was so nice not having to worry about going to work the next day. I was also able to take advantage of some of these holiday sales and you know that made this weekend so much better!

Since I've been trying to sort through my closet and add new pieces to pull my outfits together, I put together a few looks inspired by the holiday!

I absolutely love this look for a fun date night on the town. It's sexy but simple enough so that you can still feel comfortable if it's a hot day out.

-Door knocking- Oh hello opportunity! It’s nice to meet you.

Ok I know that was kind of cheesy but that one line pretty much explains the reason for my absence. I told you all that I had to take a little break from my writing duties, reviews and posting pictures because I had to adjust to a few new things happening in my life.

Of course one can never fully adjust and I’m realizing there just isn’t enough time in the day to do everything that I need to do along with the things that I want to do (and sleep right?) but I’m figuring it all out day by day.

With all of that said, I’m slowly getting back into the swing of things, so it’s time to catch you all up on the pretty little things happening in Candy Coated Closets! Yes, my shoe pictures may have dwindled but that didn’t mean I would stop shopping! I mean, honestly!

Sakiko by GX by Gwen Stefani

Before I jump into this post, I have to apologize for my sudden disappearance. I just started a new job in NYC and I've had to jump in, yes heels first, practically 24/7. So while I'm going through this adjustment, the photos and content on here will be a little delayed. Never fear though, the shoe love will pick up again soon!

Met Gala Fashion - The Best and Worst of The Night

Since there was no live stream for the Gala this year, fashion addicts had to wait until photos popped up on various social media websites to see what the stars wore to this year's fashion prom. Now that we've seen all of the looks from the festivities...it's time to round up some of the best and worst looks of the night!

I absolutely love Cara Delevingne in this Stella McCartney outfit. The two piece pant and crop top is definitely a step away from the traditional fitted dresses or ball gowns that we are used to seeing on the red carpet and Cara pulls this look together flawlessly.

Janelle Monáe added a Tadashi Shoji cape to her signature black and white ensemble. The cape is absolutely stunning and paired very well with her red bold lip and side braid.

I can't really say much about Rihanna in Stella McCartney. The star was just featured as CFDA's 2014 fashion icon and she certainly lived up to the award wearing this all white two-piece to the Gala.

Hailee Steinfeld donned a classic rise-fall custom dress designed by Prabal Gurung. This was one of my favorite looks of the night because she looks effortlessly put together in this simple number. The pink lining that peeks through the bottom of the dress is a beautiful subtle touch of detail.

Hands down my favorite look (and couple of the night) comes from Blake Lively in a gorgeous custom designed Gucci silk chiffon blush gown that was emboridered with rose gold paillettes. She can do no wrong in this dress.

I'm not sure about Kate Upton in this Dolce & Gabbana dress. I swear every time I look at this picture, I must stare at it for at least five minutes before finding one thing I like about this look. She's wearing pretty accessories? Her makeup looks flawless? No? Seriously, Kate Upton is a gorgeous girl but personally, I don't think this dress flatters her at all.

Hmm, Katie Holmes in Marchesa...Now I thoroughly believe that she was watching Beauty and the Beast with Suri and then had the bright idea to have Belle's ball gown recreated for the Gala, which is a great idea but execution wise, I think someone missed the mark here.

Style Spotlight: Crazy Eyes From Orange Is The New Black

I would have never thought that I would have to stop my coverage on the Met Gala to do a style spotlight on Crazy Eyes From Orange Is The New Black but the world needs to marvel at this beauty!

Uzo Aduba, better known as Crazy Eyes from Netflix's breakout series Orange Is The New Black attended the 100th Annual White House Correspondents' Association Dinner. Check out her beautiful transformation...

Yes, I know you had to do a double take at your screen right now. Aduba lost her Bantu knots and literally let her hair down with a shoulder-length bob and side-swept bangs. She glammed up her look with metallic gold eye makeup and a light glossy magenta lip!

She is absolutely stunning and this makes me even more excited for the new upcoming episodes of OITNB Season 2 (which was also renewed for a third season).

Kentucky Derby Style

With California Chrome being the clear standout to win in Saturday's 20-horse Kentucky Derby, I thought I'd give you some inspiration to help you put together the perfect Derby look. Whether you're going to a Kentucky Derby themed-party or staying home to watch the event, you must dress the part!

Whenever I see the top fashion styles from the Kentucky Derby, there's always one item that stands out - the over-the-top statement piece. Normally, that is in the form of a humongous sunhat or flower headpiece. You can choose to emphasize your look with lace hand gloves or chunky accessories, but your best bet when attending these events is to highlight your facial features.

One of my favorite looks that embodies the perfect race day outfit is from Miranda Kerr.

Everything about her look screams elegance, grace and style. She chooses to accessorize this flowy form fitting dress with one cocktail ring on her index finger and a glamorous flower headpiece. She uses a tinted lipgloss to brighten up her face and keeps the rest of her makeup very minimum.

Melt Cosmetics Bane & Blow

Melt Cosmetics released two new colors to their ultra matte lipstick collection - an intense black and emerald/green color.

Bane: Bane is described as an ultra matte black lipstick and it definitely lives up to the hype. It is a creamy, dark, pigmented black that has a lot of color payoff. I applied the lipstick twice over my upper and lower lip to achieve this look. If you were disappointed by MAC Cosmetics Hautecore then you should definitely try Bane. Click here to purchase.

Blow: Blow is described as an ultra creamy matte emerald lipstick. This one applies a bit more creamier than all of the rest of the lipsticks from their line but it has the same high pigmentation and long wearing color. From the promotional pictures, I was kind of hoping this color would be a deeper, dark emerald, however, it shows up as a forest green. It's still a beautiful color but I wish Melt wouldn't edit their photographs and alter the color. Click here to purchase.

For such an amazing color payoff, I had no staining on my lips after wearing it for 3 hours. They aren't colors I would wear on an everyday basis but they are an amazing addition to a beauty addicts collection.

Recently, I haven't been a fan of some of Beyonce's performance pieces but this Vrettos Vrettakos Couture Crystal gown is absolutely stunning!

Beyonce performed at the 2014 BRIT Awards and I must say she definitely shined brighter than any diamond in this 400,000 Swarovski crystal gown.

Day to Night Chic

Whenever I'm planning my outfit for the day, I try to pair things together that would make an easy transition from day to night. Let's be honest...what girl has time to change for dinner and drinks right after working a long day at her 9 to 5?

Here, I managed to create a look that is young and playful while still being appropriate for the office. The best part is that at the end of the day, all I would need to do is take off the blazer, change into some new heels (I usually keep these in the backseat of my car) add a clutch and I'm heading to happy hour with the girls!

A Non-traditional Valentine's Outfit

I know it's not a very traditional look for valentine's day/weekend but to me this outfit screams a sexy night out!

Sometimes I feel the need to rebel and break out of the routine and let's be honest...a girl needs to stand out from the crowd sometimes. So amidst all of the pink and pretty dresses, clutches, and accessories, try thinking outside of the typical hallmark holiday colors for your special outfit for the night.
